DETROIT, Mich. — The top 20 Democrats in the polls seeking their party’s nomination for President next year are set to hold their second round of debates this week in Detroit.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg spoke at a rally in Detroit last night about his time in the military and the significance of the American flag.

“One of the things that flag represents is the idea that you can speak out about injustice, criticize those in charge, including the president president, and never be told to ‘go back to where you came from,” Buttigieg told the crowd.

He also said “somebody like Donald Trump should not be able to get within cheating distance of the oval office.” Buttigieg also touched on Russian interference in the 2016 election and how we shouldn’t let it happen again.

“Because a hostile foreign adversary realized that all they had to do to make America weaker was to help Donald Trump get elected president,” he added. “And they did. And it worked. And they are doing it again.”

The next round of debates will start tomorrow night and last two nights and will be aired on CNN. The debates will each be two hours and be held at the Fox Theatre on Woodward Avenue.

Michigan issues are expected to dominate the discussion, as President Trump became the first Republican candidate to win the state since 1988 in 2016.
