HAMMOND, Ind. — An investigation is underway following the death of an infant girl from Hammond.

Authorities say officers responded to St. Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago on September 29th after a five-month-old child was brought in by ambulance.

An autospy conducted yesterday revelaed the little girl suffered blunt force injuries to the head at her home. She was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago, where she was pronounced dead Saturday morning.

Hammond Police said the case is being investigated as a homicide and their findings will be presented to the Lake County Prosecutors Office for review.
