GOSHEN, Ind.  —  An Indiana hospital will have to defend itself against a class-action lawsuit days after it admitted failing to sterilize surgical instruments.

Goshen Health sent letters to nearly 12-hundred patients who had surgery between April and September telling them they could have been exposed to HIV or Hepatitis B or C.

The hospital is offering free testing.

Hospital officials blame a technician who apparently missed one step in a multi-step cleaning process, possibly contaminating surgical equipment.
