INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana House Republicans will name a new speaker-elect early next week, reports Inside Indiana Business.
A replacement is needed for current House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis), who recently announced he will not seek re-election following the 2020 legislative session.
The speaker-elect will “work closely with Bosma during the new short session, which convenes January 6,” reports IIB.
Bosma told IIB he hopes the new speaker-elect will be sworn in by the full House as the session closes March 14.
The announcement is expected at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Statehouse.
