STATEWIDE — On Tuesday, several tornadoes were reported across multiple Indiana counties, including a large one spotted near Ligonier.
The National Weather Service issued Tornado Warnings for Noble, LaGrange, and Steuben counties until around 6:15 p.m.
“It’s a little easier to confirm tornadoes when you have video,” said Megan Dodson of the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana. “Video helps rule out straight-line winds, allowing us to confirm if it was a tornado.”
According to the National Weather Service, weather spotters captured the tornado near Ligonier on video and observed it moving northeast at 4:25 p.m.

“We did have an active spring,” Dodson said. “This is one of the most active seasons I can remember, including this outbreak here.”
Officials plan to survey damage from southeast of Ligonier to east of Topeka and Plato and in the Mishawaka area.
