INDIANAPOLIS–A man was killed Wednesday morning in a shooting that happened at an apartment complex on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

Police were called to a shooting at the Woods at Oak Crossings apartments on Merrick Way around 1:30, which is near the intersection of Kessler Boulevard and 38th street.

They found a man who had been shot in a stairwell outside one of the apartments. He died at the scene. They think there may have been a break-in at the apartment.

Later, someone else showed up at IU Health Methodist Hospital with a gunshot wound. Police believe that the victim may be connected to the apartment shooting. They are still looking into that.

“We solve these crimes with the public’s help. We’ve had several crimes here recently that we’ve been able to solve because the public is calling in and giving us information so that our detectives can track down the person or persons responsible and bring them to justice,” said IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the IMPD homicide office at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS.
