(Washington, DC) — President Biden will deliver a primetime speech on gun violence tonight. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden will renew his call for action by Congress on rampant gun violence.

She said it’s time for lawmakers to act. Jean-Pierre would not offer specifics on any new proposals from the President. Jean-Pierre said the American people need to know he’s “fighting for them.”

Nearly three dozen people have been killed in mass shootings in Buffalo, Tulsa and Uvalde, Texas, in the past three weeks. Jean-Pierre said the President can only do so much through executive actions. She insisted he has been very involved and engaged with lawmakers on curbing gun violence since taking office.

Biden will speak at 7:30 p.m. ET.
