WASHINGTON — President Biden will soon address the nation after announcing the leader of ISIS was killed overnight by U.S. Special Forces in Syria.
Biden issued a statement saying “Thanks to the skill and bravery of our Armed Forces, we have taken off the battlefield Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi – the leader of ISIS.”
Biden said he ordered the operation and “all Americans have returned safely.” Sources on the ground say at least 13 people were killed in fighting during and after the raid.
The Syrian civil defense group says the dead include six children and four women.
