TAMPA, Fla. — Tom Brady is officially announcing his retirement from football.

After news leaked over the weekend which forced Brady to deny the reports, he posted on his Instagram today he’s “not going to make that competitive commitment anymore.”

Brady went on to thank the city of Tampa, Bucs fans, Bucs Head coach Bruce Arians, and his wife and kids among others.  He said, “he couldn’t be happier with what we accomplished together.”

The post never mentions the Patriots, Coach Bill Belichick, or the city of Boston.  He’s a seven-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady is set to turn 45-years-old just before next season begins. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft.

The legendary quarterback added he will “remember and cherish these memories and re-visit them often.”
