FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ind. – An eastern Indiana man was arrested Monday, after admitting to poisoning his wife with an unknown substance, says the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Just before 10 a.m. Monday, officers responded to East Wallace Road in Wayne County for a welfare check.
There, 51-year-old Lisa Bishop told police she was being poisoned by her husband, 69-year-old Alfred Ruf.
Ruf later admitted to giving Bishop an unknown substance that would “eventually kill her.”
Samples of the substance were collected.
Bishop was hospitalized several times during 2021, which is believed to be a result of the poisoning. Ruf is being held in the Wayne County Jail and is preliminarily charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
His initial hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
