LAKE STATION, Ind. — Police arrested a 20-year-old Starke County woman after she rear-ended a police car while driving drunk.
Ashley Kretchmer, of North Judson, was driving on I-80/I-94 at around 11 p.m. Thursday when she hit a Lake Station police car from behind, according to Indiana State Police.
Kretchmer and the police officer pulled onto the shoulder and state troopers from the Lowell Post were called to take a crash report.
During their investigation, the troopers determined that Kretchmer had been drinking.
After being given field sobriety tests, Kretchmer was taken to the Lake County Jail for a chemical test for intoxication. She registered a .17% B.A.C. The legal limit in Indiana is .08%.
Kretchmer faces preliminary charges of drunk driving and minor consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
No one was hurt in the accident. The Lake Station police car sustained minor damage to the rear bumper area but was driven from the scene.
