INDIANAPOLIS — Governor Holcomb is directing flags at the Indiana Statehouse and throughout Marion County be flown at half-staff Friday, in honor of Indianapolis Fire Department firefighter Gerald Brooks, who died of COVID-19 complications.

Brooks is receiving full honors and a presumptive line of duty death service. Visitation will be held at Grace Apostolic Church from 9-11 a.m. Friday, with a service and procession immediately following.

Brooks had been with IFD since 2000 after serving in the U.S. Air Force. He also served on the Executive Board for the Indianapolis Black Firefighters Association.
