INDIANAPOLIS –A woman died Sunday evening in a crash on westbound I-465 in Indianapolis near Emerson Avenue.

Just after 6 pm Sunday, rescue workers found a heavily damaged car and pickup truck. Inside the car was a woman who was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The preliminary investigation leads us to believe a single vehicle tried to change lanes. Something caused that driver to lose control. As that vehicle spun out, it hit the wall and bounced back into traffic where it was struck by a pickup truck in the driver’s door,” said Indiana State Police Sergeant John Perrine.

Perrine says the driver of the truck was not injured.

“At this point, we know what happened during the collision, but we don’t know what led up to the collision,” said Perrine.

Crash reconstructionists are trying to determine what caused the crash.
