TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A Terre Haute man has pleaded guilty to an attack where he injured multiple people with a nail-studded wooden club.

Chelton James, 23, pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated battery. He had a trial set for Monday.

The plea agreement calls for James to serve a twenty-year sentence. He also faces eight years on probation.

Witnesses say James went into a house in Terre Haute last March and swung the club at people inside. He hit two women in the face, one man in the head, another in the shoulder, and another man in the hand.

The women were taken for medical treatment, with one woman transferred to a trauma hospital due to the severity of her injuries.
