SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. — A man from Grand Rapids, Mich., was arrested Sunday after police say he shot at least four vehicles in western Shelby County.

Frederick Charles, 36, was arrested after people called 911 on Sunday afternoon to report a man standing in the road, shooting at traffic near County Road 600 West and State Road 44.

When deputies arrived to investigate, Charles drove away. He cut through farm fields and led police on a chase all the way to County Road 100 South.

Police used stop sticks to puncture Charles’ tires and slow his vehicle’s progress. Charles was arrested and taken to the Shelby County Jail.

Anyone who witnessed Charles shooting at vehicles, or had their vehicle shot at by Charles, is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 317-398-6661.
