INDIANAPOLIS — Are you thinking of a way to give back this holiday season? If so, you could donate some time to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.

Gleaners said volunteers are “urgently” needed at its Indianapolis warehouse. The organization requires 60 volunteers per day, Tuesday through Thursday, to serve Hoosiers in need.

Over 200 shifts remain unfilled for the balance of December.

“When we’ve asked for help, the community has responded throughout the pandemic,” said Sarah Estell, Senior Director of Strategic Communications. “We’re hoping they will continue to hear us and decide that giving a few hours of time during the coming weeks and months is a great way to get out of the house and safely give back during this season.”

Gleaners is serving four times the number of households at its Community Cupboard distributions as seen before the pandemic.
