SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Days removed from the Democratic National Convention former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is making good on his backing of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Buttigieg was on NBC’s Meet The Press Sunday morning where he said the American people have been given a “clear choice” in the November election.

“If you believe that America should be and is defined by democracy if you believe that America has to be a country that makes room for everybody the choice couldn’t be clearer,” he said.

Buttigieg’s statements come as the Republican National Convention kicks off tonight in Charlotte, North Carolina. Buttigieg said the country is seeing nothing but “chaos and failures” under President Trump.

“Let’s also remember that our democracy, our national character, and our ability to fight a deadly pandemic are all on the line,” he continued. “We have a president that thinks COVID just is going to magically disappear, something he told us in April, and something he keeps telling us will happen time and time again.”

Buttigieg said under a Biden presidency, questions of science and medicine “would be settled by taking the advice of scientists and doctors.” He said last week’s convention also gave Americans a “hopeful vision.”
