After years of improper usage by people who failed English class, Merriam-Webster officially recognized “irregardless” as a word by including it in the latest edition of their famed (and increasingly less prestigious) dictionary.

Here’s the official definition of this controversial “word” used by people who don’t know it’s not a real word:

Irregardless: a word that is used by ignorant people who don’t know how to use regardless – a LEGITIMATE word – in a sentence.

Sorry, I just had to get that out of my system.

According to Merriam-Webster, a former trusted authority on the English language:

irregardless may not be a word that you like, or a word that you would use in a term paper, but irregardless certainly is a word. It has been in use for well over 200 years, employed by a large number of people across a wide geographic range and with a consistent meaning. That is why we, and well-nigh every other dictionary of modern English, define this word.”

Inescapable Yet Highly Questionable Conclusion: Millennial morons have been appointed to positions of authority within the Merriam-Webster corporate conglomerate and are willfully encouraging the dumbing down of America in a plot to further perpetuate the “stupid American” stereotype propagated by liberal elites.

We prefer Urban Dictionary’s definition of Irregardless:

“Used by people who ignorantly mean to say regardless. According to Webster, it is a word, but since the prefix, “ir” and the suffix “less” both mean “not or with” they cancel each other out, so what you end up with is ‘regard.’ When you use this to try to say you don’t care about something, you end up saying that you do.”

By the way, Merriam-Webster is sick of hearing your crap about “irregardless” not being a word, expressing their disgust with our righteous disgust via numerous snarky comments to their social media page.

We decided to look the word “irregardless” up via another popular dictionary, the Oxford Learner’s Dictionary:
