KOKOMO, Ind. — A Kokomo mother has been charged after two children in her care tested positive for meth.
An officer with the Kokomo Police Department responded to a DCS call after Angel Cooper kept rescheduling doctor’s appointments, then not showing up to the new times. The appointments were for Cooper’s child.
The child, initials BR, was born at 7 pounds, 12 ounces in mid-December 2017, according to a probable cause document. Nearly two months later, on Feb. 6, 2018, BR weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces.
At the Feb. 6 appointment, BR was “severely malnourished and was immediately admitted for evaluation and treatment,” according to the document. It also states BR has a “failure to thrive.”
The Kokomo officer also received two drug tests from DCS, showing that two other children in Cooper’s care tested positive for methamphetamine and THC Metabolite.
Cooper has been charged with three counts of neglect of a dependent.
