“Socialism” is the word of the day in America. In an era of increasing displays of Trump Derangement Syndrome, socialist progressives such Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are getting a fair amount of press coverage.

Not to be outdone, however, former President Barack Obama is riding the wave of socialist popularity sweeping across the misguided and ill-informed among us.

During a speech in South Africa this week, former President Obama advocated for the implementation of a universal basic income – a concept which ensures that every citizen receives a minimum income from the government annually.

As it turns out, Mr. Obama’s beloved Chicago might be the first city to in the United States to implement such a policy.

WIBC host Tony Katz explained the real purpose of the universal basic income:

“Universal basic income is wealth redistribution, and you should never allow yourself to believe it is anything other than that. Everyone starts with a basic amount of money from the government, and of course that comes from the taxpayer.

And don’t forget that we’re talking about the Federal government, and when was the last time that the government didn’t ask for more money down the road for a government program?

Universal basic income is wealth redistribution and you shouldn’t allow yourself to believe it is anything other than that.”
