HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — A newlywed couple from Jasper became the first to exchange their wedding vows at the same historic baseball stadium used in the movie A League of Their Own.
Kristopher Weisheit and Brittany Birk were married Saturday at League Stadium in Huntingburg. The Jasper Herald says their wedding was the first ever held at the 124-year-old venue.
The stadium was featured in the 1992 movie starring Tom Hanks, Madonna and Geena Davis about a women’s baseball league during World War II. In 1995, the stadium was also used as the set of the HBO movie Soul of the Game.
Weisheit says he proposed to his wife on the mound of their high school baseball field the day they both graduated from Northeast Dubois in 2014.
