It’s been 17 years this week since the horrible terrorist attacks that stole the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans, and at a time when we should be focussing on that loss and coming together as a nation, Joe Scarborough of MSNBC wants to talk about Donald Trump.

The host of “Morning Joe” — whose Twitter bio proudly proclaims “with malice toward none” — chose September 11 to publish an op-ed in the Washington Post entitled “Trump is harming the dream of America more than any foreign adversary ever could.”

Joe’s evidence? The GOP is creating record levels of debt, China is projected to overtake the U.S. as the world’s largest economy, and Trump himself “has savaged America’s vital alliances, provided comfort to hostile foreign powers, attacked our intelligence and military communities, and lent a sympathetic ear to neo-Nazis and white supremacists across the globe.”

Scarborough concluded the op-ed by implying that Osama bin Laden was somehow less of a threat to our nation than our current president.

WIBC host Tony Katz tore into Scarborough on Friday’s edition of the Popcorn Moment:

“This is what is considered acceptable, and rational, and decent: Osama Bin Laden killed 3,000 people and Donald Trump had himself a stripper – THIS is the conversation, people. I’m done with these nonsense merchants. They need to be pushed back against with force, with facts, with the truth.

Now I will agree that America is an idea, and there are a lot of people who want the idea of America to fail. Joe Scarborough is one of those people. How do I know this? Because he’s worried about America’s image. And Donald Trump has damaged the image. Well, the 40-50 years before that damaged the institutions; damaged the FBI; damaged the Department of Justice; damaged our faith in media; damaged, damaged, damaged – where is the outrage about that?”
