FISHERS, Ind. — One person is dead following a Friday evening single-vehicle crash in Hamilton County
According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a serious crash on Strawtown Avenue near Joyce Avenue just before 10:45 p.m.
Deputies say that a 2018 gray Nissan Altima struck a guardrail on Strawtown Avenue, causing both the driver and the occupant to be ejected from the vehicle.
Witnesses tell deputies that prior to the fatal crash, the Altima was traveling at a fast speed and swerving on the road.
Deputies believe that the car was headed eastbound on Strawtown Avenue when it left the roadway, hit a culvert, went into a ditch, returned to the road, overturned and then hit a guardrail.
The driver was pronounced dead on scene, while the passenger was taken to an Indianapolis hospital for severe injuries to the head.
Neither the driver or passenger have been identified.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
