INDIANAPOLIS–A woman was killed Monday night in a crash on Interstate 74 near State Road 9 in Shelbyville.
Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to I-74 near mile marker 113 around 5:10.
They discovered a white Mazda driven by Katherine Stratton, 54, of Indianapolis, had rear-ended a Freightliner semi-tractor trailer driven by Jonathon Felton, 34, of Americus, Georgia.
Investigators said the semi had slowed down for upcoming traffic when the Mazda rear-ended it.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said Stratton died at the scene.
Westbound lanes of I-74 were closed for three hours while the crash was cleaned up.
Toxicology results are pending.
