INDIANAPOLIS — The message isn’t a new one, bring your pets inside.

Indianapolis Animal Care Services is suggesting the message be repeated, as they are still seeing an increase in the number of animals left outside in these cold temperatures.

And many of these animals are dying from it.

Today, we’ll see some of the coldest weather of this winter season, and the threat of frostbite is just as serious for our pets as it is for us. Especially on their fur-less paws and ears.

It’s also worth mentioning that you could receive a $200 fine if caught leaving your pet outside.

If you’d like more information on how to report animals that are left outside call the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4622 or, for after-hour emergencies, call (317) 327-3811 or go online.
