Man Shot and Killed on Indy’s Near East Side Early Friday

INDIANAPOLIS — A man is dead after an early morning shooting on Indy’s near east side.
It happened around 2:15 a.m. Friday in the 3100 block of Brookside Parkway North Drive. Police say they found the man in a backyard with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition but later died.
Someone involved in the shooting stayed at the scene and told officers there had been some kind of argument. That person was also taken to the hospital, complaining of neck pain.
Officers found several other people at the scene and briefly detained them. They were released after police consulted with the prosecutor’s office.
A dog was also hurt, but police say its injuries weren’t from gunfire.
Investigators are looking for witnesses and checking the area for doorbell camera footage that might show what happened before the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call IMPD or Crime Stoppers.
