AVON, Ind. (WISH) — Avon police have confirmed human remains found in a Crown Point pond in April to be from missing Avon mother Najah Ferrell.

A call came in April 8 from a fisherman who pulled a severed foot out of a retention pond. A tattoo is what led police to connect the remins to Ferrell.

Deputy Chief Brian Nugent with the Avon Police Department said Wednesday night that DNA analysis confirmed the remains belong to Ferrell.

Nugent said the investigation remains ongoing.

Ferrell was last seen alive at her home on March 15.
