(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indy’s next downtown hotel plans to open in time for next year’s 500.
Hilton introduced the “Tru” brand two years ago. It’s a budget alternative to Hilton’s Hampton and Garden Inns — its 95 locations include one in Fort Wayne. Dora Hospitality president Vince Dora says it’s intended as a way to introduce young adults to the Hilton family and its frequent-customer program, in hopes they’ll move up to the pricier brands.
Indianapolis-based Dora Hospitality manages 16 Indianapolis hotels already and will operate Tru as well. A Thursday groundbreaking kicked off construction on the seven-story hotel on Indy’s south side, a block east of Lucas Oil Stadium and just south of Rolls-Royce’s downtown office.
Dora says the close proximity to both the Colts and a cluster of tech companies should make it a good location.
Dora says the hotel will feature complimentary breakfast and wi-fi, and a large common area in the lobby for guests to socialize.
