CLOVERDALE, Ind.–A former Cloverdale High School student was arrested Tuesday afternoon because he was seen with a gun at the school, investigators say.

Greg Linton, Superintendent of Cloverdale Community Schools, says the former student took a gun from a car in the student parking lot and tried to put the gun in his car.

Linton says during dismissal, the assistant principal saw the man taking the gun and immediately told the school resource officer. That officer later detained the man.

The Cloverdale Police Department is continuing to investigate.
