EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A pair of burglars thought they might get away with it, but Mother Nature ended up giving police an assist in Evansville.
A man called the cops saying he noticed suspicious cars stuck in the snow outside his mother’s home. There was a Dodge Ram out front trying to pull one of the cars out of the snow.
As he approached the house he asked Matthew Ingle, 32, what they were doing there, and Ingle and Madlyn Brewer, 24, said they didn’t know. That’s when Ingle ran off towards a nearby motel.
The man said he then noticed the back door of the home had been forced open. He noticed that the inside of the home had been ransacked.
Madlyn Brewer stayed with her stuck Jeep in the backyard of the home and the man had her open the Jeep. That’s when saw stolen items from the house. Court documents say the items included money, photo equipment, jewelry, antiques, and a fur valued at $2,000.
It was at this point the man called the cops. They came and arrested Brewer. The owner of the Dodge Ram was detained but ultimately let go because they did not have anything to do with the burglary.
Police then decided to follow Ingle’s footprints in the snow to the motel. Once there they searched the whole building and they found Ingle hiding out in a room.
When questioned, Brewer said that Ingle busted out a window of the home to get inside. Ingle asked for a lawyer when questioned by detectives. Both are facing burglary charges.
