BLOOMINGTON, Ind.–A man who police say robbed a bank in Bloomington last week turned himself in on Wednesday.
The Bloomington Police Department said they were called on September 24 about someone robbing the Jackson County Bank on South Walnut Street. They say an employee at the bank told them that the man was wearing a face-covering when he approached the employee, handed her a note, and told her to act normal and give him the money.

The suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Charles L. Strevels, was given cash and ran off.
Police say they used Flock license plate readers and learned that Strevels’ vehicle was in the area of the Timber Ridge Apartments at the time. They stopped the vehicle September 26, but Strevels was not in it.
A search warrant was obtained for Strevels residence on the 26th, but he was not found there. An arrest warrant was issued the next day.
On October 2, Strevels contacted the lead detective in the case and turned himself in. He was taken into custody in the area of Bloomfield Road and Patterson Drive.
Strevels has been charged with robbery, which is a level five felony.
