INDIANAPOLIS — A woman has died in an apartment fire in the 900 block of North Meridian Street, after leaving and re-entering the apartment twice before she was overcome by the smoke.
45 people got out safely. They were alerted by smoke alarms. The message from the Indianapolis Fire Battalion Chief Rita Reith: when there’s a fire, get out and stay out.
Investigators have ruled the fire accidental but they have not determined the specific cause.
