Indianapolis – On January 9th, 2022 the Colts season ended in Jacksonville with one of the most disappointing losses in Indianapolis Colts franchise history. Beginning on January 10th and fueled by tweets by Owner Jim Irsay, fans and media have wondered: Will Carson Wentz be back in Indianapolis for a second season?

On February 13th, ESPN NFL Reporter Chris Mortenson dropped the most significant piece of information yet.

While the information was important, the messenger was what was most interesting to some. Mortenson is known to have a very close relationship to Jim Irsay. In fact, Mort was in Indianapolis just a month prior for the CFP National Championship game in Lucas Oil Stadium.

While Colts fans have dreamed of either Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson donning the Horseshoe under center in 2022, the first domino could fall within the next two and a half weeks. On March 18th Carson Wentz’s dead cap hit would go from $15 million to $21.5 million meaning that if the Colts decide to move on from Wentz, everyone should know sooner rather than later so the Colts minimize the impact if they decide to cut him.
