MONTICELLO, Ind. –– The bodies found in the rubble of a house fire in Monticello Thursday morning are that of a mother and a daughter.
The Twin Lakes school district confirmed they were Twin Lakes High School junior Mya Thompson and her mother Stephanie Thompson who used to be the volleyball coach at Twin Lakes.
The two were inside of a home on North Lakeshore Drive along the Tippecanoe River near Lake Schafer. The home caught fire somehow early Thursday.
Firefighters arrived to find it fully engulfed and both were found dead when the fire was under control. The fire marshal is still trying to figure out how the fire started.
