STATEWIDE–Temperatures will warm up into the weekend, but that does not mean that the chances for precipitation are over.
“We will warm up just enough on Saturday to the point where it looks like the precipitation that comes in Saturday night will be rain. It’s not going to be a substantial warmup, but it does look like we’ll get into the upper 30s in most places. At least that is warmer than what we’ve had the last couple of days here,” said Randy Bowers, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.
Bowers said the precipitation could turn over to light snow at some point on Sunday, but if it does, he says it won’t be very “impactful.”
“It’s still best, even with the warm-up, to not go outside if you can avoid it. You don’t want to get into a situation where you have to worry about frostbite,” said Bowers.
High temperatures in many places across Indiana are expected to reach the low 40s by Saturday and then hit the upper 40s by Sunday. Bowers still warns that wind chill values could make it feel cooler on those days.
As for Thursday, he believes some places in northern Indiana could get around an inch of snow by the end of the day. South Bend, however, could get anywhere between two and five inches of snow. He also expects some snow to fall near the Ohio River, which will impact parts of southern Indiana.
