GAS CITY, Ind. — An armed robbery suspect in Grant County is also accused of stabbing a police dog in the chest.
It happened about three a.m. Monday at the McClure gas station on West Main Street in Gas City.
A Grant County deputy arrived with his K-9, Kiro, and helped track down the suspect, 20-year-old Nicholas Haneline.
Investigators say the deputy released the dog, who chased Haneline down. That’s when they say Haneline stabbed Kiro in the chest.
Kiro is expected to make a full recovery.
Haneline is charged with robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, intimidation, resisting law enforcement, and striking a law enforcement animal.
