INDIANAPOLIS — Over one-hundred Hoosiers in Indianapolis will soon lose their job.

The Timken Company has notified the state that the lay offs at the Diamond Chain Company manufacturing plant will begin at the end of November.

Timken announced their plan to close the Diamond Chain plant back in February of 2020. The plan is to pack up and move operations to Illinois.

Timken says the first group of 14 employees have already been notified that they will soon lose their jobs. They will be the first of nearly 150 employees let go. The goal is to completely close the plant by 2023, laying off nearly 250 Hoosiers.

The Diamond Chain Company manufacturing plant has stood at the corner of Kentucky Avenue and South West Street for over 100 years. It was purchased by Timken in April of 2019.
