SALINA, Colo. — The husband of a woman from Indiana who went missing in Colorado last year has been arrested and charged with her murder.

Suzanne Morphew moved to Colorado from Alexandria, Indiana in 2018. She was said to have gone missing after she went out for a bike ride in May of 2020. She never returned and her body has not been found — but she is presumed dead.

Investigators in Chaffe County say they are confident that Morphew’s killer is her husband, Barry Morphew. He’s the man who made a TV commercial that aired in Colorado pleading for help in finding his wife.

“Please, we will do whatever it takes to bring you back. We love you. We miss you. Your girls need you,” he said in the video.

Morphew was arrested and charged with his wife’s murder Wednesday afternoon.

“Today marks the culmination of thousands of hours in this comprehensive investigative effort to locate the mother of two who went missing May 10th of 2020,” said Chaffe County sheriff John Spezze.

“He was taken into custody and when asked questions he said he wanted a lawyer and so all questioning ended,” said district attorney Linda Stanley. “I’m the one who considers how strong my case is before I bring charges and I wouldn’t bring charges unless I was confident.”

Barry Morphew is charged with murder and evidence tampering. He will be arraigned Thursday.
