WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A Purdue student died at an Indianapolis hospital on Tuesday, and West Lafayette police are investigating what happened.
On Sunday, Katie Cruz was found lying in bed, unresponsive, said West Lafayette police Lt. Jon Eager.
First responders rushed Cruz to a hospital in Lafayette, but she was later transferred.
Eager said she was declared brain dead on Monday.
He told the Journal & Courier that they are investigating, but it doesn’t necessarily mean anything criminal happened.
Cruz was a junior at Purdue and studying biochemistry.
