It’s Thursday on Capitol Hill, and Democrats are once again engaged in the beloved pastime of using their elected position as representatives of the people to work against the interests of the people while wasting the people’s money. Such patriotic and duty-driven persons are they. Such skillful ringmasters of the partisan political circus.
Rep. Adam Schiff is savoring his time in the spectacle spotlight today as he comes under fire for reading a portion of the transcript of the infamous call between President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before the House Intelligence Committee – a reading that Schiff appeared to be making up on the fly!
Yes, Democrats have such a strong case for impeachment against the President that Rep. Adam Schiff felt it necessary to fabricate portions of the Ukrainian call transcript he read to the committee’s witness, Acting Director of National Intelligence, Joseph Maguire.
“This is the essence of what the President communicates. We’ve been very good to your country, very good, no other country has done as much as we have, but you know what, I don’t see much reciprocity here. I hear what you want. I have a favor I want from you, though. And I’m going to say this only seven times, so you better listen good.”
Product Placement: “The Essence by Adam Schiff… A new aftershave, now available at Walmart.”
Schiff continued, making it up as he went along: “I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand, lots of it, on this and on that. I’m going to put you in touch with people, not just any people, I’m going to put you in touch with the attorney general of the United States, my attorney general Bill Barr. He’s got the whole weight of the American law enforcement behind him.”
Who knew Schiff was such a master of the improvisational arts? Granted, I guess he has to be good at SOMETHING, and critical thinking is clearly not his strong suit. But since when do intelligence, integrity, and truth matter in Washington D.C.? It’s all about showmanship, baby!
Rep. Big Eyes was really on a roll as he suggested Trump “might” have said, “‘And I’m going to put you in touch with Rudy — you’re going to love him, trust me. You know what I’m asking, and so I’m only going to say this a few more times in a few more ways. And by the way, don’t call me again, I’ll call you when you’ve done what you’ve asked.’ This is the sum and character what the president was trying to communicate with the president of Ukraine. It would be funny if it wasn’t such a graphic betrayal of the president’s Oath of Office.”
Yet despite Democrats’ best efforts to sabotage their own case, there are legitimate legal and political considerations for Republicans as the impeachment probe continues to advance. WIBC host Tony Katz spoke with William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection about those issues on Thursday’s edition of “Tony Katz Today.” Click below to access the full interview.
