INDIANAPOLIS – Allen Fender was sentenced to 58 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for the December 2018 killing of David Smith on the south side of Indianapolis.
On December 9, 2018, Fender entered a residence in the 3200 block of S. Oxford St. armed with a handgun. Once inside the home, Fender shot Smith in the chest before leaving the scene in a Hyundai Elanta that was parked in the driveway.
Two witnesses who were driving in the neighborhood saw the car flee and took note of the license plate number. Additional witnesses also confirmed that fender was the person who shot and killed Smith.
Fender was convicted of murder after a three-day jury trial.
