STATE WIDE–Indiana’s state health commissioner, Dr. Kris Box, announced Wednesday morning that she has COVID-19, again. Box has had coronavirus before, but said in a news release from the state Dept. of Health, that she tested positive again Tuesday morning.
Box took a rapid test and then a PCR test, which will also tell if she has the Omicron variant.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 20.5 percent, with over 8,500 cases reported Tuesday.
Box is one of more than 113,000 Hoosiers to be reinfected with COVID-19, since Jan. 18, 2021.
“She was experiencing symptoms including muscle aches, chills, coughing and a sore throat and was isolating at home,” said the news release. “She will follow the isolation guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which call for her to isolate for five full days and allow her to return to work fully masked on the sixth day if her symptoms are improving.”
Box said last week that Hoosiers should protect themselves from COVID-19 by wearing a mask in public.
