INDIANAPOLIS — Six people were shot in the afternoon and evening hours Sunday in Indianapolis, one of those people shot was killed.

The first shooting had police officers respond to an apartment complex on the west side of Indianapolis just to the west of 38th street and I-465 shortly after 3:00 p.m. Officers arrived to find two people shot. The man and woman were taken to the hospital where they are recovering.

The second shooting was called about exactly an hour later at an intersection just north of 29th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street downtown. It was another double shooting as officers arrived to find two victims, one of whom was dead.

“This doesn’t appear to be a random act,” said Lt. Shane Foley with Indianapolis Metro Police. “This is not something police are going to be able to solve alone. This is something we are going to need assistance for from our justice system and our community.”

Once the sun went down, another double shooting happened in the area of West 30th Street and Kessler. The two people shot were found in a car parked just north of the intersection with two kids in the back seat.

The children were not hurt.
