SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Austin Cindric led 22 laps and made a critical pass in the closing laps for the lead to secure his fifth win of the season.

The win is the second for Team Penske of the tripleheader weekend after Will Power won the Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix which preceded the Pennzoil 150.

“Unbelievable,” Cindric said. “What this place means to me, with my family history, it’s incredible.”

Cindric was able to pass Ty Gibbs on a restart with around 20 laps left in the race. He drove away despite a charging AJ Allmendinger, who finished 2nd.

Indiana’s own Justin Haley finished third. Chase Elliott, who subbed in for Michael Annett in the #1-car, finished fourth despite not having any practice outside of the morning’s qualifying session.

“I was asleep this morning when I go the call,” Elliott said. “Glad how we finished. I’m excited for tomorrow.”

Sage Karam, who primarily runs in the NTT IndyCar Series, made his Xfinity Series debut in the #31-car. he finished 26th, but ran as high as second at one point.

Cindric’s win ties him for most road course wins all-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Marcos Ambrose and Allmendinger with five.

Cindric will have not time to rest as he will suit up in the 33-car for Team Penske in the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday.
