WASHINGTON — New York’s Elise Stefanik is the new chair of the House GOP Conference.
House Republicans selected Stefanik in a closed-door meeting Friday morning. She replaces Wyoming’s Liz Cheney, who was ousted this week over her persistent criticism of former President Trump.
Stefanik was endorsed by Trump and easily defeated Texan Chip Roy.
The Conference Chair is the third-ranking post in the House Republican leadership chain.
