MOORESVILLE, Ind.–The Gray Brothers Cafeteria in Mooresville, which has been open since 1944, will close on June 8.

The business made the announcement Monday afternoon on Facebook.

“Despite our best efforts to keep the Mooresville location open, it is no longer financially feasible to do so. Between inflation, the cost of ingredients, and the change in the industry’s landscape, it has become increasingly challenging to keep the cafeteria open,” the post said.

The Mooresville location will operate from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. through June 8 for carryout, online ordering and dining in.

The location is listed for sale at a price of $7.6 million as of June 2, more than $2 million less than the initial $10 million price.

“Please know this has not been an easy decision. We are so grateful for the support of our customers and their loyalty throughout the past 80 years,” the post continued.

The cafeteria first opened in 1944 as “Gray’s Restaurant.” In the ’60s, it moved to the current location on 555 S. Indiana St. in Mooresville.
