French Politician Wants To “Take Back” The Statue of Liberty
In the words of every American in all of history, “NO TAKE BACKS.”
A French member of the European Parliament wants the U.S to return the Statue of Liberty.
Raphaël Glucksmann spoke at a recent party convention where he stated that America, under Trump’s administration, no longer embodied the spirit of Lady Liberty.
“We’re going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with the tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demanding scientific freedom: ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty.”
France gifted the U.S the infamous national monument in the 1880’s to honor American independence from Great Britain and the end of slavery.
White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt was asked about Glucksmann demand. Leavitt didn’t even blink an eye before reminding everyone how grateful the French should be for the United States allyship, i.e. World War II.
“Absolutely not. My advice to that unnamed low-level French politician would be to remind them that it’s only because of the United States of America that the French are not speaking German right now. They should be grateful.”
Leavitt is too professional for a mic drop, but that moment deserved one.
