Will IMPD Chief Chris Bailey Assist ICE If Asked?
Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed an executive order directing state law enforcement to cooperate with ICE in targeting people who have committed crimes after entering the country illegally. ~ WIBC News
Just last Thursday IMPD’s Chief Chris Bailey said that the department will not involve themselves with those federal matters:
Now you have the executive order. Now you have a decision from your governor. What say the chief now? Before, if you say we haven’t been asked and it’s not our role, OK, now it sounds to me like you are being asked. At least the process has now been put in place. So, what say you Chief Bailey? Will you participate now if asked? Will IMPD if asked, take part in immigration sweeps? Now that the executive order has been signed. I’m looking for that answer.
