Over at wibc.com: City Councilors Considering New Fines, Penalties For Spinning Street Takeovers.

OK. The people defending the spinners, which still such a bad name. Oh, the name is so awful. Honestly, I’m willing to let them stay in the streets if we can keep calling them spinners and they’ll, and they think it’s cool. They, they think it’s tough guy. Oh, oh, oh, no, no, no, no… gosh, jeepers, they, they late at night, middle of the night, they’ll gather. And crowds, and they’ll take their cars, and they’ll do donuts in the intersections and they’re like, “this is cool.” Now, the fact that I don’t think it’s cool is meaningless. If you want to go do this, go find a place to do this. “Well, we tried to set up a business. They probably wouldn’t allow it.” You don’t know that. Maybe you’d have to drive to get to the business. It’s called zoning. Maybe you should run for local office and change the zoning laws. Their answer is no, “we’ll just do this anyway and if the police try and stop us, we’re prepared to retaliate.” I think it should be challenge accepted. I am actually surprised that the governor hasn’t weighed in on this. Hold on, hold on, our governor still, Eric Holcomb. I’m not surprised. I’m not in any way surprised the man doesn’t weigh in on anything. He doesn’t.

He wants to focus on bringing in the business from overseas. And I’ve never really had an issue with that except for the Ukraine trip, which I think was just silly.

But the willingness to not pay attention to anything happening in the capital city, never mind in in other cities, and the silence. This isn’t because he’s avoiding the noise. It’s because he’s avoiding. I mean, that’s, that’s going to be his legacy. Because when the legacy is look at all the business he brought to the state of Indiana, people are gonna say, ohh, Brad Chambers did good work.

Brad Chambers Running for Governor

That’s former secretary of commerce ran for governor. It didn’t go well. But the money that he brought in the business, he brought in the understanding that’s all very real, and people in the know will tell you just that. So, if you’re participating in this, this is a new ordinance that has been discussed: You get a $250 fine. Spectators will be fined $100. Any vehicle seized in connection with such an event would be impounded for at least 30 days. Now, now, now, you’re doing it wrong, Indianapolis. I’m surprised we don’t already have laws on the books. Right? So, this idea of when we need a law, No, no, no. You need to be able to back police when they break these things up. That is what you need to do, which will be a little hard for the Indianapolis City County Council. The majority of them, you know, actually backing the police. But the other part of this is why, why are we impounding a car for 30 days? No, no, no. If you’re spinning the first time, you get the fine. If you’re spinning the second time, we take the car pay-per-view, we chop it up.  Well, we take people’s vehicles for all sorts of things when we think you’ve been involved in a crime. But this, you’re actually doing the spinning the first time, fine… second time we chop it live on pay-per-view and then we use the money to. I don’t know, fill potholes, honestly. Honestly, I’m a genius at this point ladies and gentlemen, I think that’s where we’re at. Impound the car. I don’t know what to tell you, but the thing to do is to stop these things from happening. Of course it’s lawless. Of course it’s reckless.

And for the people who are like, you’re not going to be there, we’re not bothering anybody. When the car flips over and the people in the car get crushed, are you going to call an ambulance? Are you going to call police then? So, you’re going to cost Indianapolis money for that because you don’t know how to act. So, yeah, I think the city should be focused on it. They should be willing to push back against it, but they should be doing it with a level of force. That’s how it stops. Now, I don’t have the time I should get into when we use force and when we don’t. What is our purpose here? But for the people who want to be able to do this, go run for office, go change the laws. I started with that. But for the people who say so, you’re OK with the use of force? I understand what government is. I would rather we’re utilizing the law on the books to stop people from engaging in criminal activity, who are engaging in criminal activity, then use it, use the power of government, let’s say, to screw a company out of a stadium. So, a guy who might be impaired can pretend to build a stadium somewhere else if we’re asking about where I want to use the power of government.

You can’t have people taking over roadways. That’s pretty consistent with my line of thinking.
