Elanco HQ Will Mean Expansion of White River State Park
(INDIANAPOLIS) – White River State Park is expanding.
The 250-acre park’s expansion is part of the construction of the new Elanco headquarters at the former G-M stamping plant property. Elanco asked for access to greenspace for its employees, and White River State Park executive director Jake Oakman says the park is essentially right next door, with the Indianapolis Zoo just across the river.
Two new bridges, one for pedestrians and one for vehicles, will connect the Elanco campus to the expanded park. Oakman says discussions haven’t begun yet on what might be included in the new space — he says those talks will include the park’s development commission, Governor Holcomb’s office, and community stakeholders. But he says it’s a rare chance to add more greenspace to the downtown of a major city, and offers the opportunity to host more outdoor and cultural events in the park.
